A Tribute to Jonathan Brandis
April 13, 1976 - November 12, 2003
Fans of actor Jonathan Brandis were saddened to learn of his death this month. Brandis was most well known as the child genius Lucas on the NBC TV show seaQuest DSV. He also starred in motion pictures "Sidekicks" with Chuck Norris, "Ladybugs" with Rodney Dangerfield, and most recently was doing independent film work.
In the 1990's, Brandis posters and pictures were the wallpaper in teenage girls bedrooms. His charming personality and boyish good looks made him a favorite in Teen Beat. Teen idols typically enjoy short-lived fame, but news of Jon's death created a frenzy on celebrity message boards where discussion is usually dominated by Justin Timberlake and Ashton Kutcher.
Even though the horrible reality is that his cause of death was suicide, Jonathan's smile will forever remain in our thoughts.
Most of us never met Jonathan, yet the news of his passing brought sadness and a sense of loss as if we lost a close friend. Please leave your thoughts and memories of this terrific actor.

R.I.P Jonathan Brandis April 13, 1976 - November 12, 2003
JONATHAN BRANDIS FAN SUPPORT DAY! December 9, 2003 Lets show our support with his upcoming DVD release of "The Year That Trembled". http://www.geocities.com/rip_jonathan_brandis/
I would like to share with you a note I found from a fan-site. I believe this sums up everyone's feelings towards Jonathan.
I read in the Plain Dealer this morning that Jonathan Brandis, teen heartthrob of the early 90's, was found dead by his friends in his L.A. apartment. The little blurb buried in the Arts & Life section didn't mention how he died or anything about funeral plans. Even though I never met Jonathan in peson, I have to admit I'm a little heartbroken today. Cheesy as it sounds, he was my first real crush. I was obsessed with the boy in junior high, and followed his career through high school. Even in college, though completely past my teenybopper crush phase, I looked him up on the web every so often just to see what he was up to. His fan base had all grown up and his spotlight had faded quite a bit since his days on Seaquest, but he was still keeping busy with movies like Hart's War and Ride With the Devil. I was pumped about that.
Reading the blurb brought me back to my obsessed-fan days. I feel like a part of my adolescence has just died in a Los Angeles apartment. To his parents, Greg and Mary, he was their son. And that is probably the greatest loss two parents can feel. It's a sad day.

Green Day - Time of Your Life
So take the photographs And still frames in your mind Hang it on a shelf of Good health and good time Tattoos of memories And dead skin on trial For what it's worth It was worth all the while It's something unpredictable But in the end is right I hope you had the time of your life
