Acquired by Red Sox along w/minor lg. RHP Andy Shibilo from SD in exchange for minor lg. RHPs Brad Baker and Dan Giese on 6/23...Went 4-6, 2.03 with two saves in 68 relief apps. between the Red Sox and Padres (62 IP, 14 ER)...Was just one of 11 relief pitchers in the majors to post an ERA of 2.03 or lower...Did not allow an earned run from May 13 - July 7 in 27 apps. and 27.2 IP...Limited LH hitters to a .156 batting avg. (15-96) and all hitters to a .207 avg.
